Driftwood is wood that has been washed
onto a shore by the action of wind, tides or waves.
It's a form of marine debris or tide wrack.
Driftwood floats on a river.
Sometimes the river is calm and quiet.
Sometimes it is wild, turbulent and unpredictable.
A river can be wide, if so, one is not able to see the other shore.
But a river can be narrow and claustrophobic as well.
Driftwood can get stuck between big rocks hidden in the river flow.
It may have scars of past collisions.
A metaphor for our own path of life and our music more specific.

NEW SINGLE - Look Who's Talking
This brand new single encounters the fiercely arguing foreman in a Quentin Tarantino scene. He fights instead of bending and spews fire. A hellish trip that completely takes hold of you, one energetic line with impact. Have a listen.

DRIFTWOOD LIVE - We'll be back
28 February 2020, exactly 8 months ago, our very first live concert took place: an intimate night in our self-built theatre. Other shows would have followed, but due to the big pauze button that characterizes the year 2020, we'll have to postpone our live ambitions and will be working on new material in the meantime.
D R I F T W O O D is the music project built around founder and driving force Sam De Bock. Together with Patricia Vanneste (Sohnarr, Hydrogen Sea, ex-Balthazar) and Sam Pieter Janssens (And Then Came Fall), they create a unique and idiosyncratic sound that seeks common ground with Massive Attack, Tricky, Lamb and Tom Waits.
The trio, which live formation occupies the stage with 9 people, released their debut album in 2020: Only Fighters Left Behind. A jet-black investigation into the consequences of loss, fear, shortcoming and own horror. They are currently working on a second album which will be released in the fall of 2021.
